Project Details

Architectus and Singapore-based design practice WOHA were commissioned to undertake Queensland’s first truly subtropical apartment tower at 443 Queen St.

Created for the Queensland climate, the building catches the breezes and shade from the sun, and is a habitable, living subtropical garden designed to deliver the aspirations of the Brisbane City Centre Master Plan (BCC CCMP).

Offering a generous and welcoming public domain which creates a strong link between city streets and the river edge, 443 Queen St opens and frames important vistas, allowing the free flow of pedestrians from city to river while creating great riverside places for all to enjoy.

New and generous public walkways, gathering places, viewing places and active places are achieved by minimising the footprint of the building at Queen Street level and raising and shaping the superstructure to maximise views.

443 Queen St has received Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star – Design and As-Built Version 1.2 Design Review certified rating for a residential tower by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

CAG Key Deliverables

Classic Architectural group supplied and installed a variety of products from our extensive range on this unique project, including Classic Tredfx Safety Stair Nosings and Tactile Indicators, Car Park Safety Items, and a variety of Classic Bike Racks.

Our team also assisted with designing a space efficient and AS2890 compliant bike storage layout. Managing to fit 200 bike storage spaces into this unique building layout was quite the challenge! The final plan incorporated a combination of vertical and horizontal storage racks, including a 2 tier, gas strut design, to maximise the use of available space and storage efficiency.
