What are floor-mounted bike racks?

Floor bike racks, or surface-mounted bike racks, are bike parking solutions that are anchored to the ground, providing an organised and easily visible way to store bicycles. These racks typically consist of metal frames or structures that hold bikes in an upright position. They allow for the wheel, frame or both to be locked.

Types of Surface Mount Bike Racks

Hoops

Hoop bike racks are a simple, durable type of floor standing bike stand. They consist of a circular metal loop, allowing bikes to be parked by locking the frame through the hoop. These racks can be installed individually or in clusters.

Coat Hanger Style

The Coat Hanger-style floor rack features hooks designed to hold bike frames, similar to a coat rack. These models are easy to install and are perfect for outdoor areas. We offer 2 models with a 10-bike and a 7-bike capacity.

MultiPark P-Style Frame

The MultiPark P-Style Frame is a floor-mounted bike stand known for its robust design. A compact, high capacity solution, it allows bikes to be placed in a horizontal slot, making it ideal for high-capacity areas. Its leaning rail P-frame supports the bike frame and allows cyclists to lock both the wheel and the frame.

Surface Mount Bike Rack FAQ’s

What material are floor mounted bicycle racks made of?

Classic Architecture Group offers floor bike mounts and racks in 3 materials:

  • Stainless Steel: Stainless steel mounts are highly resistant to rust and corrosion. This makes them ideal for harsh outdoor environments. They require very little maintenance.
  • Galvanised Steel: Galvanisation (a zinc coating) provides good protection against rust and corrosion. The zinc coating on these bike rack rails is tough and resistant to chipping and scratching.
  • Black Powder Coat: Powder coating creates a thick and durable finish, which makes the bike racks resistant to scratches and chips. This finish is also weather resistant.

How much weight can an in ground bike rack hold?

The amount of weight that a surface-mounted bike rack holds depends on its capacity and how it’s installed.

With floor mounted cycle racks, the main point of concern is not the weight, but the design. The key is having a frame that balances the bike to keep it upright. A surface mount bike rack needs to keep the bike upright and lock the frame so that the bike does not fall, scratch or dent.

What are the benefits of choosing a bike rack on floor?

Surface or floor bike storage offers several benefits: they are easy to install on concrete or asphalt surfaces, making them ideal for urban areas or parking lots. They provide secure, space-efficient storage. These racks can be installed according to capacity, making them a scalable option in case your space turns into a high traffic area. They can be customised to fit different parking needs.

How can a floor bike storage rack be used in a commercial setting?

In commercial settings, surface mount bike racks create organised, secure bike parking for customers, employees, or visitors. They are particularly beneficial in high-traffic areas, such as offices, shopping centers, or recreational facilities, where people may rely on bikes for commuting. Surface-mounted bike racks ensure efficient use of space while promoting eco-friendly transportation options.

Can I customise the number of bikes a cycle floor stand can hold?

The number of bikes a surface mount rack can hold depends on its style. One hoop bike rack can hold 1-2 bikes, but a cluster of hoops can be created to keep up with growing needs. Depending on their design, MultiPark bikes can hold 4-10 bikes. If you’re unsure about which design would be suitable for you, contact Classic Architecture Group.
